Biography

I’m Jaganmuthu Senthilvelan. I recently completed my Ph.D. in civil engineering at Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan, where my research focused on developing surface texture indices to better evaluate the skid resistance of concrete pavements. My work combined laboratory testing, signal processing, and statistical modelling to understand how pavement texture affects friction and road safety. I’ve published my findings in peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of Advanced Concrete Technology and Construction & Building Materials Journal. In addition, I have presented at international conferences, including the Japan Concrete Institute annual meeting. I was fortunate to be funded by the MEXT scholarship during my doctoral studies. Alongside research, I’ve worked as an Assistant Professor, teaching civil engineering subjects. I’m particularly interested include concrete material characterization, frictional performance modeling, and the influence of aggregate properties on long-term skid resistance.
