Biography
Dr. S. Ponnusamy is an accomplished physicist and academic researcher with strong expertise in theoretical and computational approaches to molecular and materials science, and a sustained commitment to excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and academic mentorship. He completed his M.Sc. in Physics in 2011 and M.Phil. in 2012, followed by a Ph.D. in 2018 from Bharathiar University, specializing in molecular quantum mechanics and computational materials science. He possesses seven years of combined academic and research experience, beginning with a distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship at the School of Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China (2019–2021), where he conducted advanced research in electronic structure theory, mechanistic pathway elucidation, and atmospheric reaction kinetics, contributing to high-impact theoretical insights. His academic career includes service as Assistant Professor of Physics at Excel Engineering College (2021–2023) and at the Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), from 2023 to 2025. In these roles, he actively contributed to undergraduate teaching, curriculum enrichment, and the supervision of student projects. He is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor under Anna University (Ref. No. 4170112) and has published fifteen research articles in internationally reputed, peer-reviewed journals. His core research interests include quantum chemical modelling, computational reaction dynamics, atmospheric chemistry, and theoretical investigations of molecular and material systems, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary applications across physics, chemistry, and materials engineering.
